In the 1980s, Samite Mulondo was one of East Africa's most celebrated musicians. He was also a refugee who had been forced to flee his home in Uganda after his brother was killed in political violence. Samite made his way to the U.S., where he now lives. But he's never forgotten Africa, or his time in a refugee camp. This experience drives him to visit troubled regions devastated by conflict and war.

Samite tells host Peggy Wehmeyer that his goal is to bring victims of violence the greatest gift he has to give: music.
