Chocolate AtolePhoto by Ginny Grossman.
Description
Some say Mexico is the birthplace of chocolate. According to legend, the Mayan god Quetzalcoatl presented his people with a gift from the garden of paradise: the cacao tree from which chocolate is made.
Nowhere in Mexico is chocolate held in higher esteem than in Oaxaca. It is said that every man, woman, and child in this city in southern Mexico consumes chocolate at least once a day. Mary Stucky brings us this "What's Cooking" segment.
Encore presentation from Jan. 10, 2009.
