Description

Pirates continue to hijack ships off the coast of Somalia. At last count, 18 ships and 300 hostages are still being held.

The recent rescue of an American ship and its captain made big headlines. But piracy in these waters is a not a new problem. Pirates have been active in the region for several years -– attacking ships carrying everything from oil to food aid.

But when food aid gets held up, people starve.

Host Peggy Wehmeyer speaks with Caroline Hurford from the United Nations' World Food Programme about this growing problem.
