A Glimpse Behind the BurqaDescription
One fifth of the world is Muslim. That means much of the clothing in developing countries — where the majority of Muslims live — is dictated by religion, not designers.
Islam urges women to dress modestly. That could mean a simple scarf about the head, or long robes. In Afghanistan, many women still wear the Burqa, which completely covers a woman — except for a fine piece of mesh over the face.
