There have been many stories out of Iraq in the past few years of religious extremists tormenting their opponents. But there's another group facing persecution there, and their story has been mostly hidden. That's in part because they themselves are often hidden.

It's the Iraqi gay community. Matthew McAllester wrote a story called "The Hunted" for New York Magazine. He says that according to the nonprofit group Human Rights Watch, the killing and torture of homosexuals spiked earlier this year.
