Examining Foreign AidMark Green (left), managing director of the Malaria Policy Center.
Description
A budget package approved by the Republican-controlled House has now gone on to the Senate. In the bill, the budget for foreign aid has been slashed: Republican lawmakers say the U.S. needs the money for domestic programs, and many argue that foreign aid doesn't work.
But former Republican Congressman Mark Green of Wisconsin has a different view. Green is also a former ambassador to Tanzania and is now a senior director of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition.
Green talked with Melinda Penkava.
