On his first full day in office, President Obama called leaders of Egypt, Israel, Jordan and the West Bank. Some take this as a sign that the new American president will put the Middle East near the top of his agenda.

Meanwhile, Palestinians emerged from three weeks of war to a devastated Gaza. The UN estimates it will cost billions of dollars to rebuild the area. There's limited electricity, water and medical supplies.
