Description
The people of southern Sudan are filled with hope as they wait to discover the results of a referendum that will allow them to separate from the north. At the same time, a potentially serious social problem is brewing.
Alcohol, once banned in the region, became readily available after the 2005 peace agreement. Today, uneducated men with no jobs use alcohol to cope with their myriad troubles.
Bonnie Allen looks into how this might affect South Sudan's future.
