Cuba to JubaBonnie Allen/World Vision Report
Bona Bol Bolarech got a business degree in Cuba and now imports vehicles for the south Sudan government and army.
Description
This week's referendum in South Sudan could mean the birth of a new nation in Africa. It's widely expected that the predominantly Christian south will vote for separation from the mainly Muslim, Arabic-speaking north. Many southern Sudanese who once fled the country are returning home for the historic vote.
There's an unusual community that has also been returning home after many decades away. They're known as "The Cubans," and they were sent to Cuba as children with the hopes that, one day, they would return to lead an independent nation.
Bonnie Allen reports from Juba, the capital of south Sudan.
