Camotero CartShannon Young/World Vision Report
Cesar Pérez and his homemade camotero cart.
Description
On the streets in Oaxaca City, Mexico, delicious baked yams and plantains are for sale from camotero carts, ingenious contraptions that are part oven, part bicycle and part foghorn. The camotero cart is a distinctly Mexican invention that cooks, transports, and advertises its product all at the same time.
In this installment of our Street Vendor series, reporter Shannon Young discovers the tastes — and sounds — of Oaxaca's camotero carts.
