Description

In the past, the government of Niger refused to admit that the country suffered from a famine, which meant no aid or assistance for starving people.

A new government took over in February of this year — leading to a rather bizarre bit of good news. George Fominyen, a humanitarian affairs correspondent with Reuter's AlertNet based in Dakar, Senegal, explains the change to host Peggy Wehmeyer.
