Monsoon season affects half of the world's population. That includes subsistence farmers in India, whose crops depend on the rain.

But long before the rains come, there's work to do in order to get ready. Shannon Mullen spent some time with rural villagers preparing for the monsoon season in southern India. She reports from Goa, India.
