After CalaisIn Calais, Afghan teens wash up before trying to sneak into the U.K. in the back of trucks. Photo by Don Duncan.
Description
Last month, France tore down a sprawling shantytown on the outskirts of the northern port city Calais. "The Jungle," as the shantytown was called, had been home to nearly 1000 illegal migrants. Many of them are from Afghanistan, and all were headed to the U.K.
The migrants who didn't flee from officials were deported or taken into custody, but French law doesn't allow for anyone under 18 to be deported. That leaves Afghan boys lingering in Calais, hoping for a chance to make it to the U.K. Reporter Don Duncan has the story.
