Water WarsDozens of individual water lines snake their way along a hillside in Dharamsala, India. Photo by Peter Aronson.
Description
Reporter Peter Aronson knows first-hand what it's like to cope with a limited water supply. He lives in the Himalayas of northern India. While that region gets a lot of rain — nearly a hundred inches a year — it falls mostly during the three-month monsoon season. The other nine months of the year there's a chronic water shortage.
As Peter tells us in this Reporter's Notebook, people react to this with both greed and generosity.
