A statue of Edgar Hernandez in the main square of La Gloria. It was designed, built and paid for by a local Veracruz sculptor, who depicts Edgar holding a frog in his right hand, symbolizing one of the plagues of Egypt. Photo by David Agren.
Description

Back in April, when he was 4 years old, Edgar Hernandez of La Gloria, Mexico, came down with the world's first confirmed case of swine flu. Edgar became a celebrity of sorts, with appearances on radio and TV. But things haven't gone well for him and his family since the headlines died down.

Reporter Susana Seijas recently traveled to La Gloria and met the family.
